We’re proud to provide sportsmen and women the opportunity to participate in a sport historically rooted in our American & Pennsylvanian heritage.

The Pennsylvania Flyers Association (PAFA) was established in 1984 by a group of shooting ethusiasts committed to promotion and protecting bird shooting for future generations.

The long and revered tradition of our sport faces increasing threats from those who seek to end all hunting, including the Humane Society of the US (HSUS), PETA, SHARK, and others. Their broad reach — and long-range intent to ban hunting and fishing of any kind — now includes agriculture, the use of lead bullets in hunting ammunition, and the banning of hunting selected species throughout the country.

These groups make claims of cruelty, environmental impact, and outdated practices, which are baseless, false, and deeply unfounded in any fact. You can click here to learn a few tidbits about HSUS and its work.

PAFA is an active US 501c3 for defeating legislation and litigation in the courtroom that would prohibit wing shooting enthusiasts from pursuing their sport.

Today, PAFA membership has broadened to include individual sportsmen and women, sportsmen’s clubs and regulated shooting preserves throughout Pennsylvania.

Our members volunteer their time to host youth hunts, experiences, and events so interested Pennsylvanians can try their hand at a sport entrenched in American tradition, nature, sportsmanship, and skill.

Wing shooting can generate significant economic benefits for local communities, supporting businesses and jobs throughout the Commonwealth. Out-of-state shooters participate in pigeon shoots, book PA hotel rooms, eat in PA restaurants, buy PA gasoline, and shop in PA stores. Despite baseless claims of extreme cruelty, coordinated pigeon shoots — and the sport itself — are regulated to ensure the humane treatment of birds, and wounded birds are quickly dispatched to minimize suffering.

Since the mid-1800s, pigeon shoots have been a time-honored Pennsylvania tradition amongst the hunting community, and we encourage new members and supporters to contribute to the cause now.

Join our efforts to advocate for the sport and end the persecution of the men and women who safely and respectfully enjoy the spirit of the hunt.

Humane Society of the US (HSUS): What You Need to Know.

HSUS, claims to be the most effective animal protection organization in the nation.

With a history of poor behavior, we invite you to be the judge:

  • In 2014, the HSUS settled a racketeering lawsuit filed by Field Entertainment, the parent company of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, for $15. 75 million. The lawsuit alleged that the HSUS used fraudulent tactics to attack the circus and harm its business.

  • HSUS spends a significant portion of its donations on administrative costs and fundraising rather than directly benefiting animals. In 2021, after taking in upwards of $260 million, HSUS reportedly sent less than $1.6 million to shelters in only 18 states.

  • HSUS misleads the public by implying that the donations go directly to local animal shelters when, in reality, a small portion of the funds reach these organizations.

  • HSUS has been criticized for using aggressive lobbying tactics to push legislation that may not be in the best interest of animals or the public - focusing too much on extreme animal abuse issues, such as banning hunting and fishing, rather than focusing on more practical and achievable goals.
